Koberimo School Feeding Programme strengthened with new mess hall, multipurpose building

The commitment by the Ministry of Education to improving students’ access to nutritious meals and creating better learning environments continues to reach communities across Guyana, with the commissioning of a new School Feeding Mess Hall at Koberimo, Region One.

The facility was officially commissioned on Wednesday by Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, alongside Hon. Collin Croal, Minister of Housing, providing students with a dedicated space to receive their meals in a more comfortable and conducive environment.

Previously, students at Koberimo were required to eat in the school’s kitchen. The new mess hall, constructed at a cost of $1.8 million through the 2026 Presidential Grant, addresses this challenge while extending its benefits beyond the school population to serve the wider community.

Also commissioned was the Koberimo Multipurpose Building, constructed at a cost of $10 million through the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs’ Capital Project. The facility will provide additional space for activities and engagements, serving as a valuable resource for residents of the community.

Together, these investments represent continued efforts by the Government of Guyana to improve educational infrastructure, enhance student welfare and ensure that development reaches communities throughout the country.
