Learn and Connect at A Mile In Her Shoes
Join Buncombe County and community partners for an afternoon of discussion, education, understanding, and connection at A Mile In Her Shoes: Opioids, Wellness, and Social Justice. The free event will take place at 200 College Street on Saturday, October 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Attendees can meet with other community members, providers, and emergency services to discuss the impacts of opioid use and the judicial system on women, their overall wellness, and maternity. In addition to free lunch, the afternoon will include a panel discussion and information session with Tiffany De’Bellott and Nafeesah Harrison, Narcan and harm reduction training with Brandi Hayes and the Post Opioid Response Team (PORT), and insights from doula Deja Benton.
Buncombe County is hosting the event in partnership with Buncombe County Emergency Services, Operation Gateway, the Center for Participatory Change, Sistas Caring 4 Sistas, Rosewood Women’s Recovery Home, and PORT.
