The office of coordinated Students Support Services at the Nebraska Department of Education is pleased to announce the availability of a grant opportunity to support school mental health initiatives. This funding is provided pursuant to Neb. Rev. Stat. § 79-3605, which requires NDE to establish a School Mental Health (SMH) training program for personnel employed by a school district or an educational services unit.
The purpose of the SMH training program is to ensure that participants are equipped with the essential skills, resources, and knowledge to effectively assist students in crisis and connect them to local mental health services. Additionally, the program focuses on increasing participants’ awareness of available mental health resources within the community, enabling them to connect students with appropriate care effectively.
