Rowan County Public Health Offers Walk-In Immunization Clinics for School-Aged Children

Salisbury, NC – Rowan County Public Health is offering two walk-in immunization clinics for school-aged children who still need required vaccines for school attendance. 

The clinics will be held at Rowan County Public Health, 1811 E. Innes Street, Salisbury, NC on: 

• Friday, September 11, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 
• Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Children will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis, and no appointment is required for these clinic dates. 

Parents or legal guardians must accompany their child and should bring: 

• The child's ID (birth certificate, passport or social security card) 
• The child's immunization record 
• Insurance card (if applicable) 

Families who are unable to attend one of the walk-in clinics may schedule an immunization appointment for another date or time by calling 704-216-8863. 

Rowan County Public Health (RCPH) encourages parents and caregivers to make sure children are up to date on routine vaccinations as part of ongoing efforts to protect children, families, and the broader community from vaccine-preventable illnesses. 

At this time, there are no changes to North Carolina's clinical guidance regarding childhood immunization. Vaccines remain widely available and accessible through local health departments, private medical practices, community health centers, and pharmacies. Eligible children from birth through age 18 may receive vaccines at no cost through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program at participating provider locations. More information is available on the Vaccines for Children program website. 

 Routine childhood vaccines help protect against serious diseases, including measles, whooping cough, and other illnesses that can spread quickly in schools, childcare settings, and households. Staying on schedule also helps protect infants, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems who may be at higher risk for severe illness. 

Families and providers can also access the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services' bilingual Childhood Vaccines Toolkit for additional information about childhood vaccines. 

 “Vaccines are and have been one of the safest and most effective ways to protect children from serious diseases,” said Dr. Darren Kelly, Medical Director at Rowan County Public Health. “We encourage parents and caregivers to talk with their child’s health care provider about recommended vaccines, vaccine-preventable illness, and any questions they may have so they can make informed decisions for their family’s health.” 

Parents and caregivers with questions about vaccines are encouraged to talk with their child's pediatrician, family doctor, or other trusted health care provider. Rowan County Public Health continues to support access to immunizations and reliable vaccine information for local families. 

Rowan County Public Health encourages families to review their child's immunization records and take advantage of these convenient walk-in opportunities before vaccine requirements impact school attendance.
